Everybody can’t do what you do

Hey Reader,

Have you ever done something that felt simple to you, only for someone else to look at you and ask, “How did you do that?”

Maybe you’re the person who can walk into a messy situation, figure out what needs to happen, and help everyone take the next step. Someone thanks you afterward, and you shrug: “That? Everybody can do that.”

Except everybody can’t. 😂

I recorded a short video about the gifts we tend to overlook in ourselves. Click below to watch it. Someone you know may come to mind while you do.

Sometimes we overlook what God put in us because it doesn’t look like traditional ministry. We know we’re good at leading, teaching, organizing, creating, building, or solving problems, but we think of those abilities as things we use at work—not things God can use through us.

Your gift does not become spiritually meaningful only when it is used inside a church building. God can work through you in an office, classroom, business, hospital, community, or home.

That’s part of what I want us to explore together at the I-95 Gathering: how what you do well may connect to what God has called you to do.

The I-95 Gathering is free and takes place Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Dunn Community Center, 205 Jackson Road, Dunn, NC. Registration is required.

If you haven’t registered yet, you can save your seat here:

Whether you’re already registered or still deciding, I’d love for you to forward this email to someone who should be in the room with us. You could simply say, “Everybody can’t do what you do. I thought about you when I read this.”

You serve at church, go to work on Monday, and keep showing up for the people who count on you. You’re grateful for your life. But somewhere in the middle of those familiar routines, you find yourself praying, “God, is there something more you want me to do with what you’ve given me?” When that feeling won’t go away, it’s easy to assume the answer must be somewhere else: a different...
